Due to the limitations brought about by the Coronavirus pandemic, the project members behind All Day Place Shibuya had to re-assess the true value of travel. They wanted to create a universal and comfortable "usual place" in Shibuya, where locals and travelers could gather and connect. The idea was to provide a space for locals to enjoy a coffee or a beer while waiting for friends, while also allowing travelers to discover hidden gems in the city from a local's perspective.

The hotel's unique properties lie in its ability to bring people together. The ground floor area serves as a hub for gathering, with a coffee shop and beer bar. The second floor houses the hotel reception, lobby, and a restaurant, all designed with large glass windows that flood the space with natural light and offer a view of the neighboring park. This design encourages mingling and creates a welcoming atmosphere for both locals and travelers.

One of the visual highlights of All Day Place Shibuya is the square tiling in a stunning gradient of various greens. This design element connects the outdoor seating area and ground facilities to the internal stairs leading to the restaurant and reception. The hotel is designed with the intention of using ordinary and familiar materials in extraordinary and familiar ways. For example, the guest rooms feature media consoles and bed frames made with forest green melamine plywood, a material rarely used for hotel furniture but chosen for its unique aesthetic.

The project to create All Day Place Shibuya started in April 2017 and was completed in April 2022. The design of All Day Place Shibuya was inspired by the historic role of "public houses" in communities overseas. The project members conducted extensive research to create a spot that caters not only to guests staying the night but also to locals and travelers who stop by for food and drink. By encouraging communication between locals and tourists, the hotel aims to enrich the travel experience for all visitors.

One of the challenges overcome during the design process was the hotel's commitment to sustainability. All Day Place Shibuya strives to be environmentally friendly by using sustainable materials for construction and amenities, as well as choosing renewable energy sources. The hotel also implemented a property management system and self-check-in kiosks to optimize staff efficiency and improve guest service.
